29er

The 29er is a strict one-design skiff (PY of 924) of 4.4 m in length with a single trapeze and asymmetric spinnaker. The hull is lightweight with a self-draining cockpit with safety foot/grab rails and enclosed transom. All-up rigged weight including sails is 90 kg and the total sail area is 30 m2. The sails are fully battened Mylar with a mainsail cuff to increase sail efficiency and self-tacking jib. These are supported on a three section composite-tipped mast that gives the ultimate in gust response and acceleration. The 29er was designed by Julian Bethwaite in 1997 and is considered by him as a natural progression from a 420. The 29er is suitable for youths or light adults of beteen 120 and 140 kg.
